Mordialloc Redbacks Junior Cricket Club offer a progressive cricket skills program experience for junior members as they move from grassroots cricket to junior cricket. To support each junior member, we offer several programs.

A Note About Woolworths Blaster Programs

We are yet to open up registrations for the Woolworths Junior and Master Blast programs due to the current uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 situation in metro Melbourne and the Stage 4 restrictions that are still in place by the State Government. Under the current restrictions we cannot run the Junior Blast or Master Blast programs due to the format of these programs requiring more kids on an oval than is permitted. For outdoor cricket, groups are limited to two 'teams' per oval. A team is defined as the typical number of players that would make up a cricket side (e.g 7-12 players).

We do not yet have certainty as too when these programs will be able to commence. Cricket Victoria has advised that the Blast programs be deferred to February next year for this very reason as per this document. Please note that we cannot guarantee that the program will commence in February as we will be guided by State Government and other governing bodies advice. As soon as we can confirm that these programs can run we will open registrations.

Recommended for children aged 4 to 7.

Junior Blasters is for kids new to cricket with participants building their skills through fun, game based activities. The games are designed for small groups to ensure every child gets a go, allowing them to test and learn new skills. When they have mastered the basics they will be ready to graduate to Master Blasters where they can play modified games of cricket.

Recommended for children aged 7 to 9.

Master Blasters is a super fun, social, safe, cricket program for boys and girls aged 7 to 10. The program is much shorter than traditional cricket, with a maximum of 90 minutes playing time. All the equipment is supplied and the games take place at the same venue each week, at a local cricket club or community centre.

Recommended for children aged 9 and above.

Our Junior cricket program is designed for kids moving from the Blast program into more skilled and structured cricket. Teams are fielded for Rookies, U/12, U/14 and U/16 age groups. The Rookies program is designed to help transition children from Master Blast or less experience to the Junior cricket format.

Details of the Junior program will be made available when SECA have released the details
